KestrelMedia™ Wireless Digital Media Player
The KestrelMedia™ Digital Media Player (DMP) design is the first generation of streaming media solutions from Kestrelink. The DMP connects to TVs and displays through a variety of standard A/V interfaces, and uses UPnP-AV protocols to discover and play back remotely stored audio and video files over 10/100 or 802.11a/g networks. The design is intended for OEM's and ODM's looking for a platform they can easily take to production for either standalone DMP products or for integration into existing CE products.
The KestrelMedia platform differentiates itself from alternate offerings by providing a reliable and robust user experience, delivering a cost-effective solution, and use of technology that provides a clear path of integration into existing consumer electronics products. Other DMP solutions invariably fall short on one or more of these targets today.
To realize these goals, the KestrelMedia platform is based on a dual architecture approach, using separate processors for networking and AV/GUI processing. This provides a product with a high performance wireless network connection, but with enough horsepower for AV processing, menu navigation and all traditional user interface functions to work quickly and reliably. Watching movies or listening to music over the network is even easier than using your DVD/CD player.
